Chicago-based Anita Graef has has appeared both nationally and internationally in concerto, recital and chamber music engagements with a reputation of comparable strengths exploring traditional as well as contemporary works, along with a deep commitment to service, outreach and education. Notable appearances include features in Strings Magazine, as well as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series, and “Concerts from the Library of Congress.” She has also performed as a guest of various radio programs, including WQXR, WFMT and NPR, among others. Anita serves as the Artistic Director for Tallgrass Chamber Music Festival and as the Artistic Director of the Chicago-based/touring group Juliani Ensemble. Additionally, she works towards providing free music instruction, lessons, and resources to students of all ages and backgrounds in Chicago’s South Side neighborhoods. With her passion for cello beginning at age 4, Anita grew up in a musical family with her brother Julian.

Julian Graef has established himself as a versatile performer of distinction, appearing frequently as a violinist, violist and conductor. As an orchestral musician, appearances include the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Atlantic Music Festival, the North American Viola Institute at Orford Academy, Brevard Summer Music Festival, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Youth in Music Winter Festival. Julian directs and performs with the Juliani Ensemble, frequently collaborating with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera Orchestra. Julian has taught at the Eastman School of Music and holds a position as Assistant Principal viola of the Missouri Symphony.
